Six people were arrested in France on suspicion of an attempt to attack President Macron. According to a source close to the research, they had a vague and barely developed plan of violent action against the president. An investigation was opened against them because of an "association of terrorists".

The French Minister of the Interior reported that the six people belonged to the group of right-wing extremists. They are five men and a woman aged 22 to 62 years old.

They were arrested in three different regions of France: one in the Breton city of Rennes, one in the alpine region south-east of Lyon and four in the north-east, near the border with Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany

On Sunday, Macron warned of the danger of far-right movements in Europe. He said that leniency towards the far right in the twenties and thirties had allowed the rise of Mussolini and Hitler.

Macron is today in Verdun to commemorate the end of the First World War, about five hundred days ago. Next weekend, he will receive President Trump.
