The AirPlay 2 update does not apply to all Sonos. The new update only concerns the Sonos One, the recently announced Sonos Beam, the new Play: 5 and the Sonos PlayBase.
AirPlay 2 is the new feature that allows you to stream music to multiple speakers simultaneously from an iOS or Mac OS device.
After the update, it is possible to stream music from any application on the iPhone, iPad or Mac to the Sonos speaker. Also sounds games, movies or series. When you have an older speaker, you can still use the new feature if you put the speaker in a group with a support speaker.
