The Lelystad Court has previously ruled that the Staatsbosbeheer rangers would be allowed to slaughter 1,830 deer in the coming months.

"We will simply perform the task we receive," answered Joke Bijl from Staatsbosbeheer. "We are the executive organization and are waiting for the last mission of the province of Flevoland."

Persecution

The prosecutor's office did not prosecute Staatsbosbeheer on Wednesday for the death of large pastures in the Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve last winter. The people who fed the animals are not prosecuted either.

Due to the harsh winter, a relatively high number of pastures died in the area early in the year. The people who filed a report against Staatsbosbeheer concluded that the organization had failed in its duty of care.
