The murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi had been entrusted to somebody "of the highest spheres of the Saudi government", but not to King Salman. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan writes this in an opinion piece for the American newspaper The Washington Post.
The journalist Khashoggi worked for this newspaper. He was murdered at the consulate of Saudi Arabia on October 2, just after his arrival.
In the play, Erdogan draws up a list of the complaints made by Turkey concerning the conduct of the investigation into the murder. He enters the work especially on the lack of cooperation of the Saudis. They do not want to say where his body stayed and who was the local assistant.
Erdogan also writes that the two countries maintain friendly relations and that the Khashoggi affair should not be considered as a "problem" for both countries. . "I do not believe for a moment that King Salman, guardian of the holy mosques, ordered the assassination of Khashoggi," he writes.
