The busiest day of the year in Schiphol went well

Monday was the busiest day of the year in Schiphol. Despite this, travelers have not experienced major problems or delays. The crowds lasted until the evening, but the flow of passengers went well throughout the day. That's what a spokesman for Schiphol said. The airport speaks of a "nice, good operational day".

On Monday, Schiphol handled some 233,000 passengers. According to a spokesman, there would be 80,000 departures, 75,000 arrivals and 78,000 transfers. In total, the airport has no less than 12.7 million passengers this summer. Compared to last year, this is an increase of 2.4%. On average, the airport handles about 220,000 passengers a day during the summer period, between July 7 and September 2.

More Staff

Schiphol employs 20% additional staff on Monday and special teams must ensure order during the peak. Due to the crowds, the airport advised travelers to arrive at the time and carry the least amount of hand luggage possible for a quicker security check.
