The live broadcast of the opening of the North-South line on NPO1 attracted 223,000 viewers on Saturday morning.
That's a quarter of all people watching TV at that time.
They saw the short talk of comedian Martijn Koning, the speech of Mayor Femke Halsema and then the first act of eight Amsterdammers.
From the first subway that stopped at Central Station, were members of the Dutch Chamber Orchestra who played Schubert's Unvollendete
. 707,000 viewers. This also involved a market share of almost 25%.
The list of figures from the Stichting Kijkonderzoek clearly shows that almost all the Netherlands have holidays. Only the new NOSs from 8pm and 6pm attracted a little over a million viewers. All other programs, including the Tour de France, were (well) covered. NPO1 was the market leader on Saturday: out of the top ten watch list programs, eight were broadcast on the first public channel.
