Google disabled unlocking via voice recognition on 3 and 3XL pixels. On previous versions of Pixel phones, this was still possible.
The Voice 3 can not be unlocked with Voice Match by saying "ok Google" or "hey Google," Google reports Saturday on a help page. The group writes that users can use Google Assistant on the lock screen without having to open the phone. With voice recognition, Pixel 3 or 3XL can display information about emails, appointments and reminders.
Earlier, voice matching offered more possibilities. For example, users can use this service to make phone calls and open applications. Why Google turned off the option is not clear.
The new Pixel phones were introduced by Google this month. They have screens with a notch to make room for two selfie cameras. The phones do not yet officially appear on the Dutch market, although they are available from suppliers.
