The HomePod gets a lot of new features at the next update, according to the test version of iOS 12. Here are the four HomePod innovations at a glance.
Four HomePod Enhancements in OS 12
Improvements were found by iGeneration claiming to have discovered several details in the beta version of the HomePod's operating system. The following four characteristics are deployed according to source at HomePods with iOS 12.
1. Calling and receiving calls from HomePod
The call via the HomePod becomes easier and more complete. Users must now call someone from their iPhone and then switch the audio on the HomePod. The device can not yet be linked to your contacts. Even if you receive a call, the HomePod gives no notification and can not be registered either.
The update is accompanied by a solution. The update allows Siri to order HomePod to call someone else. You can also record a conversation via the smart speaker. You can also listen to your voicemail, search your call history and join a group conversation on FaceTime (via audio) from the HomePad.
2. Find my iPhone, Siri
The HomePod will also support Find My iPhone, so you can ask Siri to find the location of your iPhone, MacBook or iPad. For example, ask if he can play a sound, as you may already know from the iPhone application
3. Links to the good Wi-Fi network
The Home application, with which you use the HomePod, is renewed in the beta version. The official name is still not clear, but there will be a "repair Wi-Fi" button. In the current Home application, it is not possible to see which Wi-Fi network the HomePod is connected to. To connect the smart speaker to the same network as your iPhone, you still need to reset the network settings. You do not have to do that with the new button; which controls that the HomePod is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iPhone connected.
4. Multiple timers
A new handy tool for HomePod users who like to be in the kitchen, for example: multiple timers. It will soon be possible to activate several timers at the same time, for different things. In this way, you can name them and ask Siri for a certain timer and how long it will last. Think of a 45-minute timer called "Oven", and an 8-minute timer called "Eggs".
Apple generally launches several major software updates in September, such as iOS 12, macOS Mojave, tvOS 12 and watchOS 5. The HomePod is not yet available in the Netherlands, but already in Germany and France for example
