The twelve highest-paid employees of the BBC are all men, despite attempts to narrow the pay gap between men and women. This seems Wednesday from an overview that the British broadcaster publishes every year. Director Tony Hall says in a commentary that "these things take time".
Presenter Gary Lineker won the most last year, with a salary of about 1.75 million pounds (over 1.9 million euros). Presenters Chris Evans was in second place with a salary of 1.6 million pounds. The best-deserved woman is Claudia Winkleman again this year. She earned about 370,000 pounds (418,000 euros). Last year, she was still in eighth place on the list, this year in place thirteen.

Hall says BBC "is making progress" and that it wants a fair distribution list. The broadcaster said the revenue gap should have disappeared in 2020. Presenter Jane Garvey reacted critically and called the pace too slow. "There must be a serious discussion about why we are still fighting for equal pay in 2018."
The British broadcaster resigned last year after the resignation of Carrie Gracie, China's correspondent, because she was earning less than her male colleagues. Four male presenters agreed shortly thereafter with a reduction in their salary. Last month, BBC Gracie apologized. The BBC is paid with public funds and is obliged to publish an annual list of large employees.
In the top Dutch public broadcasters, men also deserve better than women. On the higher scales of the collective workforce, men receive on average 5-6% better than their female counterparts. According to the NPO, there is still "a lot of work to be done".
