Giovanni van Bronckhorst hopes to clarify his future in Feyenoord after the winter break. The current contract of the coach ends next summer.
"I'm working on this season," said Van Bronckhorst at a press conference for the match against Heracles Almelo.
"There comes a time when we sit at the table, but I think it is only after the winter break that my future is no longer the most important."
Van Bronckhorst is the head coach in Rotterdam since May 2015. In January 2017, his contract was extended until mid-2019.
During the 2016/2017 season, Van Bronckhorst led the club to the first league title in eighteen years. In 2016 and 2018, he also won the KNVB Cup with Feyenoord.
This season, Feyenoord won the Johan Cruijff scale just like last year, but the results are disappointing. The Rotterdammers were eliminated in the second qualifying round of the Europa League by Slovak AS Trencín.
In Eredivisie, the team is no less than thirteen points behind the leader, the PSV, and eight on Ajax, his rival. Feyenoord played one game less, as last weekend, the street lights gave way in the derelict home game against VVV-Venlo.
Feyenoord has qualified for the eighth finals of the TOTO KNVB Cup. In December, the team will play at home against FC Utrecht.
Van Bronckhorst waits for a tough match in Almelo
On Sunday, Feyenoord fights for third place with Heracles. The Almeloans, like Feyenoord, collected twenty points, but fought more duels.
"Heracles puts together and has a lot of quality", congratulated Van Bronckhorst. "It's always a tough match for us."
"That will be the case now, certainly because Heracles started well in the competition, which we have to counterbalance."
The former international trusts. in a good result. "We played the last matches – with Ajax after the match – as I wish, with a lot of movement."
Feyenoord misses suspended Jeremiah St. Just and injured Ridgeciano Haps and Luis Sinisterra on Sunday. The match at Polman Stadium starts at 4:45 pm
