NEW YORK – The legal team of Harvey Weinstein asked Monday in New York that an ongoing trial against the fallen film producer is abandoned. The lawyers sent a text message to one of the accusers who, after the allegations of violence, had always contacted Weinstein.

Last year, the production assistant had announced at a press conference that the filmmaker had subjected her to an oral sex act. 2006. Weinstein's team drafted a 2007 text in which she asks Weinstein if he still has time to see it. "This message makes it clear that she wanted to continue to see Mr. Weinstein after the alleged sexual assault," according to the petition's lawyers.

Prosecutors in this case, which had originally revolved around three alleged victims, suffered a setback last month. A judge then reached a line in one of the charges, after contradictions were revealed in the woman's statement.
