According to Wilders, the Crown misinformed the court about "political interference and consultation" that preceded his case.
He reacted positively to the court decision made by the former Minister of Justice, Ivo. Opstelten and former Director of the Attorney General Herman Bolhaar, precisely to hear this interference as witnesses. Wilders: "The truth must come true"
Despite the fact that the court has allowed several applications for defense, Wilders says he does not trust a fair trial. According to him, the public prosecutor "was disconcerted, but it is better than nothing. It remains strange that three days are necessary for a triple murder and three words that I pronounce for five years."
The other ministers who made statements on Wilders rejected the court's judgment. Attorney General Paul Velleman is also scheduled to testify. Velleman is responsible for the fight against discrimination and heads the national center of expertise on discrimination. He signed the decision not to prosecute Alexander Pechtold, then leader of the D66, for his statements about the Russians. Pechtold responded to Halbe Zijlstra's resignation after his lie about a visit to Putin's dacha by explaining to him that he still had to meet the first Russian who corrects his own mistake.
According to the lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops, this remark can be compared. with those of Wilders on Moroccans. The fact that Wilders does so and that Pechtold is not prosecuted is, according to Knoops, a violation of the principle of equality.
According to the defense, it is still not excluded that the court returns the case to the trash. The president said the court did not want to do this at this stage but needed a further investigation.
The criminal case begins on June 25 and lasts twelve days in total: June 27, July 2, 3 and 4 and 3, 5, 6, 10, 13, 23 and 27 September. The verdict is expected on 11 October.
