Winner of Groningen Poetry Festival Doe Maar Dicht Maar 2018

Groningen-based Sarah Zajac of Groningen won the top prize in the 15-18 age group at the Doe Maar Dicht Maar finale at the New Types festival in Arnhem. The National Poetry Contest is organized annually by the Poetry Palace for high school students.

Thousands of young people also presented their poems this year. The hundred best poems were chosen from all entries.

During the festive evening, the ten finalists presented their poems and received a bag full of poetic prizes. In the age category from 12 to 14 years old, Tabbe Mourits de Haarlem won first prize.

The evening program was presented by Ilse Schaminee. Singer-songwriter Tim Koehoorn gave a musical performance. In the finale, the new collection of poems Doe Maar Dicht Maar 2018 was presented. This collection contains the 100 most beautiful poems of this edition of Doe Maar Dicht Maar.

The professional jury this year included the poets Edward van de Vendel, Ingmar Heytze and Nikki Dekker. Two former Doe Maar Dicht Mais winners were in the youth jury: Babette Groos and Sterre Wolthers. Babette Groos is also a young poet of the homeland.
