Work-related mental fatigue continues to increase Now

16% of employees aged 15 to 75 feel psychologically fatigued several times a month at work. Employees suffer from complaints almost twice as often as independent contractors.

Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports these facts on the basis of the National Survey of Working Conditions and Self-Employment conducted by Statistics Netherlands and TNO in 2017.

In 2015, 13% of employees experienced psychological fatigue

Independent contractors also suffer more than in 2015. Then, 8% reported complaints, against 9% now.

The increase concerns all ages

. Age groups add symptoms of psychological fatigue. The strongest growth was among employees aged 65 to 75, whose number of complaints increased from about 2% to about 7%.

Employees aged 25 to 35 are the most frequent, with nearly 20%. mentally tired because of their work. Among independent entrepreneurs, the 35 to 45 age group is the most represented, with nearly 11%.

Permanent versus Temporary Workers

Employees with a permanent employment relationship are more likely suffer from complaints of work-related fatigue (17%) than employees with a flexible relationship (14%).

In the latter group, temporary workers suffer more than twice as often from complaints than from appeal or substitute forces (9 per cent).
