Actor Michael Rapaport posted screenshots of a private conversation between him and Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant on Tuesday, and now KD is apologizing for his action. In the exchange, Durant made several homophobic slurs directed at Rapaport after the actor initially called out the NBA star for the way he handled an interview on national television.
Durant took to Twitter later Tuesday to apologize to Rapaport for his actions.
According to screenshots, the situation began in December after the Nets’ season opener win over the Golden State Warriors. The only timestamp for the conversation is December 23, 2020, when the conversation started. It’s unclear when the conversation resumed until Rapaport posts the screenshots.
It all started when the crew of “The NBA on TNT” mocked Durant for his low-key behavior when an interview with Charles Barkley ended.
“KD seemed deep in his feelings with the [TNT] the crew after the game, “Rapaport tweeted at the time.” DAMNIT he is super sensitive to everything. Don’t do the interview. “
In response, Durant backed off, calling Rapaport a “b — h”, “p — y” and “piece of shit” in his DMs. In addition, Durant also made multiple homophobic references to Rapaport in private messages.
The Nets star also took photos of Rapaport’s wife and challenged the actor to a fight on the streets of New York City.
“I get disgusting threats and messages EVERYDAY, but never in my wildest dreams have I thought [Kevin Durant] would be among them, ”Rapaport tweeted on Tuesday. [snake emoji] himself threatens me now, brings up my wife and wants to fight. It’s supposed to be America’s sweetheart, isn’t it? “
Durant could potentially be punished by the NBA, given the league’s stance on homophobic and misogynistic comments.
