Mopar announced in early November that it would retail its 807-horsepower “ Redeye ” V8 as a crate engine, and rumors say Ford could follow suit by making its 760-horsepower Shelby GT500 available for transplant. .

The “Hellcrate Redeye” will sit among other heroes of the Mopar box engine world, including the standard Hellcat and the 426 cubic inch 1000 horsepower V8 “Hellephant”.
However, Mopar won’t be the only brand to unleash its modern muscle car motivation in the aftermarket; Ford reportedly retaliated with a supercharged 5.2-liter box engine dubbed the “Predator,” derived from the powertrain usually found under the hood of the Shelby GT500. The automaker has not confirmed its plans exactly or any details of the package, so no pricing details are available yet.
Ford’s factory produces 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque in stock, but we’re sure there will be a few more ponies to have once the kids drop it off at their resto-mod. The GT500 Mill will join a massive 9.3L V8 box engine already available from the Blue Oval, which produces 655 horsepower and 710 lb-ft of torque without the aid of a blower.
