Manufacturers are introducing general-purpose face masks which they say offer more protection than fabric coverings without taxing supplies of N95 masks used in hospitals.
These mask makers have said that many of the newer models coming onto the market are more protective than cloth masks but fall short of the level of protection provided by N95s, which stop at least 95% of very small particles with a sophisticated filter and a perfect fit for the face.
