It seems that Google is testing a new design for Google Assistant, users signaling the change in a thread on Reddit.
The new design removes the white overlay we know when we call Google Assistant on our phones. Instead, the new overlay appears as a semi-transparent black outline at the bottom with the words "Hi, I'm listening to you."
Once you've slipped up, however, the drawing picks up the tried-and-tested white background we've known for years. This is a striking change from the plain white background that was displayed before. Not only has Google gone black, but is now transparent with a clear glass effect.
As in many Google tests, this is a very limited A / B test, server-side enabled. It appears for users with version 9.84.10.21 of the Google application and is displayed on a Pixel phone and a OnePlus device.
At the moment, we do not know if this will be extended to everyone or if Google is simply testing the waters with a new design. Kyle Bradshaw of 9to5, Google was able to confirm that the text string "Hello, I'm listening to you …" is present in the Google application, however.
It's worth noting that Google has not mentioned any changes to the design of the app with all the other announcements made last week on Google I / O 2019. It has introduced us to many new features, including how Google Assistant will be multiplied by 10. faster on phones in the future, but has made no mention of Google Assistant's appearance change when it is fired on your phone.
