A Connecticut police officer was charged with killing a co-worker in an impaired driving accident in Las Vegas on Friday.
New Haven officer Robert Ferraro, 34, was accelerating in a 2020 Rolls Royce with two fellow police officers on board when he allegedly lost control and crashed into a busy car parked in a private driveway, according to KVVU- TV.
The Rolls Royce then slammed into utility poles, landscaping and a fire hydrant before knocking down and ejecting front passenger Joshua Castellano, who was also a New Haven officer, the store reported.
Ferraro was charged with drunk driving resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death or significant bodily harm. He was held on $ 100,000 bond, according to the station.
Acting New Haven Police Chief Renee Dominguez described Castellano as “always happy to be here,” according to the article.
“Agent Castellano has served our community for seven years. We are grateful for the service of Officer Castellano; he will be sorely missed, ”New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker reportedly said.
In addition to the three officers, the mutilated car is said to have carried two passengers from Texas.
