At a virtual press event for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary – The World’s Most Magical Celebration – Disney revealed some very epic announcements! We just heard about a sprite-sprinkled offer coming up in 2022: Disney MagicBand +.
If you are a longtime visitor to Walt Disney World, you are probably familiar with the MagicBands. MagicBands are a very handy piece of equipment for Disney visitors: you can use your MagicBand as a theme park ticket, your hotel room key, your payment method and much more. But soon, Disney will introduce a New offer called MagicBand + which is sure to elevate your vacation even more.

Disney announced today that MagicBand + will be arriving at Walt Disney World soon. It will be a new iteration of the Disney MagicBand system that will likely completely transform your vacation to Walt Disney World.
MagicBand + will be very interactive both in theme parks and outdoors. MagicBand + will be how you, as a theme park guest, can interact with the Disney Fab 50, the golden statues that are now on display in each of the four theme parks as part of the 50th anniversary celebration. Your MagicBand + will also light up during fireworks shows like Disney Enchantment and you can even use it indoors Star wars: Edge of the galaxy.
According to Disney’s official announcement:
Once you enter a theme park, MagicBand + will come alive at different times with changing color lights, haptic vibrations, and gesture recognition. The mobile will let you engage with favorite Disney moments in new ways, including:
- Play as a bounty hunter in a galaxy far, far away and find virtual bounties in the Black Spire outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- Interact with the “Disney Fab 50 Character Collection”, the golden sculptures found throughout Walt Disney World theme parks.
- Experience nighttime shows in a new way as you watch your group light up and complete the magic of the sky, including the new “Harmonious” at EPCOT and “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom Park.
MagicBand + will be available for purchase starting next year, including a reduced pre-arrival price for Disney hotel guests as well as new Walt Disney World annual pass holders. Current MagicBands will also continue to be available, as well as the free Disney MagicMobile service which extends MagicBand features, such as park entry, to smart devices.
