If you’ve got a shiny new iPhone 12, you’ve probably unboxed it and even started using the phone. But for those upgrading to the iPhone 12 from the iPhone 5s / 6, they might struggle with the UI and gestures. Don’t worry, these tips will help you get the most out of your experience using iPhone 12 that is running iOS 14. Here are some simple tips you should know.
Homepage
The iPhone 12 doesn’t have a home button, but Apple has made it easier to access the home screen without a home button. Just swipe up from the bottom of the screen, and a single swipe will bring you to the Home screen.
Hide your exact locations
It is a well known fact that the apps on your phone track your location to extract data. Fortunately, Apple gives you the option to hide your exact location. Just go to Settings > Privacy> Location services and you can see which app is tracking your location.
Switch between apps
Switching apps on iPhone 12 doesn’t require you to take a crash course. Everything you need to open App Switcher, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, and pause for a second with one finger still on the screen. The apps will appear and you can now tap any of these options to open the app or swipe up to force quit the app.
Control center
You can access the control center by swiping your finger from the right side of the screen. Keep in mind that you can even swipe your finger from the top right corner of Accessibility to access Control Center.
Notifications
Swiping down from the top left corner of the screen will display notifications. It is the easiest way to view your recent notifications like WhatsApp messages, missed calls, and text messages.
Activate dark mode
You absolutely have to enable dark mode on iPhone 12. There are two advantages to using dark mode; this makes it easier for your eyes at night and helps save battery life on iPhones with OLED displays.
To activate “Dark Mode,” swipe up from the top of the iPhone 12 screen. This opens Control Center.
* Press and hold the screen brightness button.
* Tap the dark mode toggle at the bottom left.
Take a screenshot
Screenshots can be taken by simultaneously pressing the side button and the volume up button. This way you can quickly take a screenshot.
Caption your photos
iOS finally lets you add a caption to your photos or videos you take. Adding a legend is an easy task. Launch the Photos app on your iPhone. Tap a photo you want to add a caption to, then swipe up to go to the caption field. Tap the Add caption field, write your caption, press Enter and save the photo. Unfortunately, you can only add a caption by choosing one photo or video at a time.
