A New Jersey utility worker had an extremely close meeting Monday after a power line caught fire when she touched wet ground after a storm.

The Manchester Police Department said in a Facebook message that the incident had occurred at the intersection of State Highway 70 and Colonial Drive, in Manchester Township, about 90 km south of New York.

"Last night was very shocking for some of our midnight officers!" the ministry said.

Manchester Township Police Christopher Hemhauser told WCAU-TV that he and another officer had had to escape earlier that night at the same intersection when an electric arc transformer was sending sparks.

He also witnessed the second blast and said the utility worker was "definitely surprised."

"It's just a reminder of the real danger of electricity," he said on television.
