The list of lawsuits against Texas quarterback Deshaun Watson has now reached 19. One of the more recent lawsuits contains a different type of allegation.

Via Aaron Reiss of TheAthletic.com, one of three new lawsuits filed on Monday reads: “As a result of the repeated lawsuits against him, Watson is deleting Instagram posts and contacting those who officially provided him with massages, in an attempt to settle.

From this specific quote, it is not clear whether Watson is allegedly contacting massage therapists who have filed a lawsuit or those who have not yet made any claims. Although all lawsuits were filed under a pseudonym of Jane Doe, the documents generally contain information regarding the dates and locations of the interactions.

If Watson wants to settle one or more claims, the best solution would be to ask his lawyer, Rusty Hardin, to contact attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents all the plaintiffs. It is never a good idea for a defendant to contact a plaintiff directly in situations like this, for a variety of reasons.

If Watson deletes Instagram messages, that’s a separate issue. Beyond the fact that the likes message can be reconstructed electronically, it creates the potential impression that Watson is trying to hide something.

As we’ve said many times, Watson should try to arrange mediation sessions that would give all parties a near day in court and resolve all claims to the satisfaction of everyone involved. Mediation has become very popular over the past three decades because mediation works.
