New Lexus F Sport model teased on Facebook

Lexus is up to something, but right now only Toyota’s luxury division knows the truth. Lexus continues to use social media to tease a new F-Sport product with no further details to back it up so we can continue. At the moment we only know that it has an engine cover with the Lexus F sport logo, red paint and a door.

Lexus plans to bring us an all-new F-Sport model with a launch scheduled for February 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Until then, all we can do is speculate based on a few clues released by Lexus and put together by our team.

The Lexus F-Sport and F full-on products are unique races among other performance luxury cars. Instead of using the most advanced technology to achieve diminishing returns on performance, Lexus sports products are more emotional. If you were to cross-buy one of Lexus’ performance cars with competitors based only on the datasheets, Lexus would not sell any of its sports product offerings.

Lexus F products were defined by the 2.0-liter 2UR naturally aspirated V8 engine that sets itself apart from its downsized turbocharged competitors. As Toyota and Lexus push for more fuel-efficient transmissions that must also remain competitive, we expect the 2UR V8 to become one of the last large naturally aspirated V8 engines.

Instead of this upcoming F-Sport Lexus, we’re hoping to see at least one new turbocharged V6 engine, which will allow Lexus to compete with the mid-range performance models of its German rivals. Although a turbocharged engine will not have the character of a V8, its performance potential would be hard to ignore and allow Lexus to compete with its rivals who have achieved impressive performance with similar engines.
