The long-awaited next entry in the Metroid series is in a few weeks, and Nintendo has offered another taste of what’s in store for Samus with a new trailer. The five minutes clip explores Samus’ abilities, the enemies she will face and more.
The trailer takes the time to explain the moves Samus has in his tool belt, including the slide mechanic, his jumping prowess, and a melee counter, which should come in handy as long as you have it. the right timing. Unlockable abilities include missile targeting, flash shift (a dash movement), a tether to ward off large obstacles, and a way to morph into a ball to help Samus squeeze through tight passages.
Samus will chase if they hear or see her. If they catch Samus, it’s over. Your best bet is to use its abilities to avoid detection, as you can’t damage them with regular weapons. The clip offers a glimpse of some of the many other types of enemies that Samus will face on the planet ZDR as well.
The trailer also shows how Terror of the metroids Amiibo will work, if you have the chance to get your hands on it. If you press Samus against your Joy-Con, you will gain an additional energy reservoir which will increase your energy reserves. Use the EMMI Amiibo instead and you will get another missile tank + to increase the missile capacity by 10. You can use each one once per day to replenish resources.
Terror of the metroids arrives on Nintendo Switch on October 8. This is the first major Metroid game since Metroid Fusion all the way back to 2002. Not much longer to wait now, however.
