LANSING, Mich. – A new plan would repeal Michigan's bottle deposit law.

The state representative, Joe Bellino, recently introduced the legislation. Monroe's legislator said the removal of the 40-year bottle deposit law would increase participation in community recycling programs.

Under this plan, the state bottle deposit law would expire on December 31, 2022.

The bill was referred to a committee for review.
