New Porsche 911 RSR Unveiled with Huge 6.2 Liter Flat Six-Cylinder at Goodwood Festival of Speed

The engineers at the Porsche factory in Weissach claim that the car is 95% new. For starters, engineers revised the powerful naturally aspirated six cylinder engine to replace 4.2 liters with a horsepower rating of about 515 horsepower.

But even more, Porsche says it's the biggest boxer engine ever mounted on a Porsche 911. It's paired with a six-speed, continuously meshed, sequential transmission that's said to move faster thanks to an improved clutch and more efficient better gearing. The engine exhaust is also repositioned to come out laterally in front of the rear wheels rather than toward the rear. This also saves weight and improves aerodynamics.
