Lenovo introduced its next-generation ThinkPad X1 Extreme notebook for performance-demanding professionals. It is equipped with a processor and a graphics processor faster than those of the current generation of 15.6-inch laptops. In addition, the new machine can be equipped with an OLED display.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 comes in the same chassis as the first-generation machine introduced last summer, but its internal components have been completely modified. The new ThinkPad X1 Extreme is based on a maximum of 9th Gen Core i9 processor with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 in a Max-Q design. The notebook can be equipped with a DDR4 memory up to 64GB and two SSD M.2-2280 NVMe drives (maximum capacity of 4TB in total).
The new ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 will be available with several 15.6-inch display options, including a 4K OLED display with multi-touch touch support. To deliver a premium multimedia experience, the future ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 also features speakers with the Dolby Atmos logo.
Like other modern notebooks, the new ThinkPad X1 Extreme supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-A, HDMI, GbE and more.
Lenovo does not disclose other details on the laptop because there are only a few months left and all the details have not been finalized. Based on its appearance and similarity to the original ThinkPad X1 Extreme, it is a notebook PC with a z-height of less than 2 cm and a weight of approximately 1.7 kg but these are preliminary numbers.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 notebook will be available from $ 1,499.99 in July 2019.
