New radicals gather at Biden inauguration parade

After 22 years of inactivity, the New Radicals gathered on Wednesday January 20 to perform at the virtual “Parade Across America” event to celebrate the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. Of course, they performed their pop hit “You Get What You Give” in all its late ’90s glory – with singer Gregg Alexander even wearing his bucket hat during the performance.

Like Alexander and co. performed the song for the first time together in more than two decades, music videos of Americans across the country holding up inspirational signs – fighting for social justice, against COVID-19, for “a new normal” – added an extra dose of poignant character. The New Radicals didn’t indulge in the song’s outro, leaving viewers wondering which celebrities would get screamed in a 2021 update to the “Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson / Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson” line.
