New Ram 1500 packages and Ram HD adjustments underpin 2020 updates

The end of summer or the beginning of autumn is about the time when automakers are starting to unveil their next model years. OEMs are slowly releasing information on the 2020 models, and Ram is the newest.

The updates are not too important, as both trucks have recently received heavy upgrades, but the 1500 and HD models are getting new stuff that buyers will definitely appreciate. We will start with the little guy.

2020 Ram 1500

Ram's light pickup gets a new Night Edition package. Available on the Big Horn and Laramie versions, the Night Edition features a monochromatic look with a black grille, black grille, black insignia, black wheels and black exhaust tips. Headlights and taillights also become darker.

There is also a new package of Ram Rebel Black look. Rebel trim, available as an option, adds 18-inch black wheels, black paint, and black paint to the front spoiler, skid plates, badges, tow hooks, and exhausts. Light emitting diode lights have black panels and the interior is entirely black, but it is also possible to choose a two-color combination with red.

Rebel buyers have even more new kits to play with, thanks to a new Rebel Safety Group. This adds an adaptive cruise control at full speed, a forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and automatic high beam. In addition, the Comfort Package now comes standard with an electric tailgate release, wireless device charger, second-row heated seats and a 12-way power driver seat.

The Ram 1500 also receives a new engine for 2020. His 3.0-liter diesel V6 develops 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, offering the largest diesel towing capacity of a half-ton of all trucks on sale at 12,560 pounds. It is also available on the Rebel, if you want to get started painting.

2020 Ram HD

The changes to the Ram Heavy Duty 2020 are far fewer and more distant, but some are still important. On the technical side, line maintenance and adaptive steering are now available on all versions as well as blind spot monitoring. A new trailer tire pressure controller is also available as an option. The auxiliary camera system can now support two different cameras.

Other changes are minimal. Crew cab variants with 8 foot bed will now have the standard 50 gallon fuel tank. The Power Wagon trim can now be equipped with black wheels. Two new colors are proposed: olive green and hydro drunk.
