New Rocketeer movie arrives on Disney + with David Oyelowo

Fans of Joe Johnston’s 1991 Disney film The Rocket have been waiting for this news for 30 years: a new live-action Rocket the film is officially in preparation. It’s called The return of the Rockeeter and it is developed for Disney +.

According to Deadline, David Oyelowo (Selma, Star Wars Rebels) is among the producers and can play in the project, which “will have a all new creative guidelines … focusing on a retired Tuskegee aviator taking over the Rocketeer. It looks like a reboot sequel if you ask me.

Ed Ricourt (Now you see me, capricious pines) wrote the screenplay which is produced under the Yoruba Saxon banner, a company run by David and Jessica Oyelowo. He signed a first deal with Disney earlier this summer after David Oyelowo’s directorial debut, Water man, has been freed.

The rocket launcher originally played by Bill Campbell as a stunt pilot named Cliff who stumbles upon a experimental jet pack in the late 1930s. A jet pack that a group of Nazis are also looking for, because they think it will help them take over the world. And so the movie becomes a very exciting period superhero movie with Cliff ending up defeating the Nazis. He co-starred with Jennifer Connelly, Alan Arkin, Timothy Dalton and Paul Sorvino, and is now on Disney +. If you haven’t seen it, or if you haven’t seen it in a while, it’s still really great.

Watching it even now, the movie feels like a franchise starter. So, Disney must have been disappointed when, when it was released, it didn’t even make $ 50 million in the United States. Since then the film has always had a legion of very passionate fans, many of whom are filmmakers and actors themselves, so there have been rumors of Rocket projects over the years (there was even a short-lived children’s animated series). This one, however, is by far the most promising yet, and fans have Disney + and the Oyelowos to thank.
