The Patriots recruited Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham in the fourth round of the NFL draft, but they may have been staring at another QB before – Josh Rosen.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Patriots were among the teams that explored an exchange for the Arizona quarterback before it was traded to Miami on Friday night. The Dolphins gave up a second-round selection (number 62 overall) this year and a fifth round in 2020.
We do not know what the Patriots were willing to give up, but with six caps in the top 101, they would certainly have beaten what Miami was proposing.
Rosen was treated after Arizona picked Kyler Murray's number 1.
But no matter now, the Patriots took Stidham. They will now face Rosen twice a year since he is now in the East CAF.
