New Sony-funded Silent Hill game reportedly in the works at Kojima Productions – Rumor

A new rumor has fueled the ongoing rumors of a new Silent Hill title in development.

For some time now, several sources have claimed that Sony is working on a new episode of the series, possibly as a PS5 exclusive title. Various “insiders” have supported these rumors, but to date we have not received any official confirmation regarding the development of a new Silent Hill. The new game would be a smooth restart who will serve as a reintroduction instead of a redo or restart completely.

Silent Hill director leaves Sony’s Japanese studio alongside producer The Last Guardian to form new development studio

Yesterday, a new rumor surfaced claiming that publisher Konami was planning to relaunch several of its franchises, including Castlevania, Metal Gear and Silent Hill. In fact, the VGC report claims to have heard that there are currently several Silent Hill titles in production.

Following the release of the aforementioned VGC report, game store Gematsu now claims to have heard of a new Silent Hill as well. This new project would be led by Hideo Kojima, Kojima Productions, and would be funded by none other than Sony Interactive Entertainment, which suggests that this new Silent Hill will be exclusive to PlayStation.

“Gematsu has also heard that a new Silent Hill is in development at a leading Japanese developer,” the report from Gematsu said. “That studio is Kojima Productions, according to an anonymous publishing source, who also said the game is funded by Sony Interactive Entertainment.”

As always with these kinds of rumors and reports, take the above information with a pinch of salt for now. Neither Sony nor Konami have officially confirmed that a new game in the series is in the works. On the contrary, last year Konami said the Silent Hill rumors were false.

“We are aware of all rumors and reports, but can confirm that they are not true. I know that’s not the answer your fans might want to hear, ”a Konami spokesperson said in March of last year.

What do you think of these new reports? Is Kojima actually working on a new Silent Hill with the help of Sony? Hit the comments.
