The US Space Force on Tuesday unveiled new prototype uniforms, making comparisons to those from “Star Trek” and “Battlestar Galactica”.

The Space Force Guardian Duty Suit prototype was shown at the Air Force Association’s Air Space & Cyber ​​conference in Maryland on Tuesday. It includes a dark navy blue coat, six diagonal buttons on the right side and gray pants.

The new uniforms mark a change from the Air Force sartorial blues that the Space Force uniform was derived from in 2019, according to Military.com.

General John Raymond said the six buttons, which bear the Space Force emblem, are believed to symbolize the Space Force being the sixth military service, Military.com reported.

Lt. Col. Alison Gonzalez, the Space Force’s deputy chief of strategy who modeled the new uniforms at Tuesday’s conference, reportedly said the prototypes were designed with women in mind, which is a diversion from to the usual army strategy of creating men’s uniforms. then adjusting them for women.
