There are four new Star Wars books in the works, and they’ll cover its fictional universe and timeline. Revealed in an official blog on Thursday, the books focus on familiar characters and their offscreen adventures. Some of these adventures take place between movies, and you can even fill in a much needed backstory to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith, written by Adam Christopher, seems to be the most interesting of the bunch. It stars Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian and is set almost two decades after Return of the Jedi. In it, Luke and Lando will investigate a Sith threat from the dead world of Exegol. This leads to the events of the sequel trilogy, in particular Rise of Skywalker, as Luke and Lando learn about the Sith assassin Ochi and the identity of Rey Palpatine. Shadow of the Sith has a release date of June 28, 2022.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi and the Sith is an anthology for intermediate levels, and it contains ten stories that are aimed at young readers. The book will contain many illustrations and will include stories by Roseanne A. Brown (A song of specters and ruins), Sam Maggs (Captain Marvel, The Incredible Wasp), Dalila S. Dawson (Phasma, Galaxy Edge: Black Arrow), and seven other authors. Stories of the Jedi and the Sith released on June 7, 2022.
Star Wars: Brotherhood is the story of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi who forge a strong relationship through the chaos of the Clone Wars. Obi-Wan is presented as a gifted diplomat investigating the Sith and Separatists, while Anakin Skywalker is a newly created Jedi knight who accompanies the mission. fraternity is scheduled for May 10, 2022 and is written by Mike Chen. Fans will be remembered for his work in Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View, a collection of news focused on The Empire Strikes Back.
Finally, Obi-Wan Kenobi will also feature in a coming-of-age adventure titled Star Wars: Padawan, by Kiersten White. The book is slated for a July 26, 2022 release date, and Obi-Wan goes on a Jedi mission alone. He finds a pack of cool teens in the wilderness of an alien planet, and he must decide if he’s interested in being a Jedi or if he wants to stay on the verdant planet with his new gang of friends. Padawan is slated for release on July 26, 2022.
All of these books are currently available for pre-order online from sites like Amazon and Barnes & Noble, but are currently listed with pre-production code names instead of actual titles.
