The Lucasfilm Edition and Del Rey may not be officially at New York Comic Con as it kicks off today, but they’re still bringing their usual slice of news to come – and whether you’re a fan of the sequels or the prequels, Jedi or Sith, or maybe one or two adorably incompetent cronies, there is something to be enjoyed.

Announced on StarWars.com today, four of the next big ones Star wars books by Del Rey and Disney Lucasfilm Press, in addition to the many tales to come within the High Republic line of novels and comics, It is. From Del Rey come two intriguing stories of the Clone Wars and the time between Return of the Jedi and the force awakens. The old one, fraternity (released May 10, 2022), is written by Mike Chen, takes place during the early days of the clone wars, as Obi-Wan is sent to investigate a terrorist attack on the seemingly neutral homeworld of the Trade Federation, Cato Nemoidia, to find Anakin, newly raised beyond Obi-Wan’s tutelage to the rank of Jedi knight, defying the orders of the council and Obi- Wan’s personal requests to accompany him as well, “bringing in a promising but conflicting youngster” for good measure. In addition, probably, to provide an answer to this question little Revenge of the Sith gag about how many times Anakin has saved his former master’s life, the book wants to delve into the difficult relationship Anakin and Obi-Wan find themselves in when they are no longer student and teacher, and almost parent and son, but rather brothers in the dying days of the old Republic.

Del Rey’s other novel, Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher (released June 28, 2022), will instead take readers to a post-Return of the Jedi with Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissian. The book is set during the hunt for Palpatine’s Sith assassin duo, Ochi of Bestoon, who were briefly mentioned in The Rise of Skywalker, but perhaps best explored in The current of Marvel dark Vador comic as we come from an incredible and absolute disaster of a man that’s comically good at eating shit at every available opportunity. But even beyond the chance to flesh out Ochi’s character, Shadow of the Sith is very interesting because he wants to lay the foreshadowed seeds of the rise of Palaptine and the Sith Eternal on Exegol, and explore Ochi’s latest mission: find the granddaughter of Darth Sidious, Rey, and his parents.

Both Lucasfilm Press books will be aimed at young readers. The first is an anthology, Stories of the Jedi Sith– released on June 7, 2022 and edited by Jennifer Heddle – bringing together stories of Force users from the light and dark sides. The list of authors includes Roseanne A. Brown, Sarwat Chadda, Delilah S. Dawson, Tessa Gratton, Michael Kogge, Sam Maggs, Michael Moreci, Alex Segura, Vera Strange, Karen Strong, and will include new illustrations by Jake Bartok. Padawan, due out on July 26 and written by Kiersten White, will follow a young Obi-Wan during his time as Padawan in Qui-Gon Jinn, as the young man, frustrated with his new master’s distance, flies off for a personal mission to explore a world full of young people with their own special connections to the Force.

Suffice to say that between these and the next wave already announced High Republic pounds you won’t be able to swing a lightsaber without hitting aa Star wars pound or six come next year.
