NEW YORK (WBNG) – As of the first of the new year, new sick leave law is in effect for people working in New York State.
Employees at most businesses can start using their paid sick days allotted to them by this new law to start accruing in September.
Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office says about 1.3 million New Yorkers did not have access to paid sick leave prior to the new law.
The rate is one hour for 30 hours worked.
