The lines between reality and science fiction blur a bit as a new technology, dubbed SoundbBeamer 1.0, positions itself as a futuristic replacement for headphones by delivering, yes, audio straight to your head – no computer chip implant is not needed.

Developed by Israeli company Noveto Systems, SoundBeamer 1.0 is a device that transmits sound directly to a user’s ears through the use of 3D sensing technology. The audio pocket created around the ears allows the user to hear the sounds in their head.

The two big things to remember here are that other people in the user’s immediate environment will not be able to hear the audio that is currently being played, and the user will also be able to clearly hear their own environment.

“I was trying to think about how we compare sound radiation to all the other inventions in history.
