It’s been two years since Lara Croft’s last video game release – developer Eidos-Montreal’s dark trilogy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider – and now, finally, Square Enix is ​​teasing Lara’s long-awaited return in the form of Tomb Raider. Square shared their new Tomb Raider Reloaded ad on Twitter, but offered little additional information about its new “arcade action” project, other than the fact that it was the work of developer Emerald City Games (most recently responsible for the free-to- play GI Joe: War on Cobra) and Square Enix’s mobile team in London.

Those absolutely desperate for further details, however, have the option of dissecting the 40-second long trailer accompanying the announcement, which offers dramatic slow-motion panning through some menacing enemies – including a wolf, a monster. rock, a giant spider, and T. rex – before settling on Lara herself, the weapons blaze.

This unfortunately doesn’t shed any additional light on Lara’s new adventure from a gameplay standpoint, but we do get a good look at the chosen art style – which I’ll describe as “potentially divisive,” and leave it at that.
