One of the most anticipated Marvel movies since Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Path Home has been exciting fans around the world. The build-up has caused many to speculate on the exact unfolding of the story. Thankfully, Marvel has finally delivered the hype. The media franchise recently released the first trailer for No way home, and this confirmed the theory of some fans.
Familiar Faces in Marvel’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” Trailer
Of course, it is impossible to argue No way home without addressing the elephant in the room. Many leaks apparently involve the return of some major characters from the previous two Spider Man cinematographic guns. You can see for yourself that the trailer finally confirms some of these rumors, most notably the long-awaited return of Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi’s second film. Spider Man movie.
We also see a familiar looking pumpkin bomb, almost certainly wielded again by Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. However, fans chose something larger based on the story of the film presented by the trailer.
The controversial comedy adaptation of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”
Spider Man fans have spent the past two years speculating what comedic script (s) the film might take inspiration from. But few predicted that they would go along with one of the most controversial and poorly received storylines in Spidey’s history: An extra day.
As Fandom reports, this story centers on Peter Parker exchanging his marriage to MJ – along with all of his memories – with Mephisto, the Marvel Universe equivalent to hell, in order to save his Aunt May’s life. The idea behind the script was to simply wipe the slate clean of Peter for the future. Spider Man runs. But a lot of people thought her choice wasn’t characteristic of our friendly neighborhood web-slinger.
It won An extra day a place among the worst exits of Spider Man the story. Why did Marvel adapt such a grueling script for a movie with such high expectations?
Marvel Cinematic Universe Reworks History Into Something Exciting
One way the MCU has continuously received praise from longtime Marvel fans involves the method in which they adapt the storylines. Rather than following a specific comedic storyline throughout, the MCU movies merge all manner of storylines from Marvel history. These include those that are repeated countless times and those that are obscure or hated like One more dayand.
No matter how popular a script is, it’s clear Marvel writers love to play with their rich source history. They tell old, forgotten stories to new audiences and give flawed stories a second chance to shine.
This is where we find ourselves with No way home. Rather than sacrificing his marriage to save his aunt, Tom Holland’s Peter now seeks help from Benedict Cumberbatch’s Dr. Strange to erase the memories of anyone who knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man. This helps exonerate Peter in his impending murder trial, spurred on by a clever last minute manipulation of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio in the previous film. It may sound like a solid strategy. But what about Mary Jane’s superhero friends Ned and Spidey who know both of her identities?
It is clear that these deviations from An extra day will create a much more believable and gripping conflict for Peter than the original comic book. As the returning evil faces show, it looks like this movie will take notes of Spiderverse, as these villainous crusaders clearly confuse our Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield’s Tobey Maguire or Peter Parker (whom fans believe will appear in the film as well).
Some wonder why Doctor Strange would perform such dangerous magic – maybe he’s secretly Mephisto or even a Skrull. But the only way to answer this question for sure is to see how Peter’s wish comes true in Spider-Man: No Path Home when it hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
