New trailers: Knives Out, Jumanji: The Next Level, and more

With New York City libraries removing access to Kanopy last week, I found the time to insert an extra movie into the service I had never seen elsewhere: Kumiko, the treasure hunter, a strange film based on a mistaken theory that a woman found dead in Minnesota was in search of the fictional treasure of Fargo.

This is an excellent premise of a line that interested me a lot to see the movie. But it turns out that centering a film on a character that is strange enough to confuse a fiction film with a real event makes it very difficult for that character to be thoughtful and convincing enough to lead a calm and emotional film.

Unfortunately, the rest of the film only feels on a note, because Kumiko's motives are bizarre and superficial. The film is beautiful to watch, however – the director of photography who shot it continued to do Green room, 20th century women, and Green paper.

Check out seven trailers this week below.

Knives released

After making the biggest film of his career (or anyone else's), Last jedi Director Rian Johnson has moved on to something much smaller: a caper movie in the manner of Agatha Christie in which a group of people is locked in a mansion while a detective investigates a potential murder . He leaves on November 27th.

Jumanji: the next level

Restart of 2017 Jumanji was released a few days later The last Jedi and still managed to make a ton of money. So, this year, Sony does it again, with a sequel going to the final Star wars entered a few days later in December. Enjoy the Danny DeVito print of The Rock.

Wu-Tang: an American saga

The latest television adaptation of Hulu is … The Wu-Tang clan. The group's story is becoming a tragedy and this seems to be a fascinating way to explore the struggles of black families in the 1990s in New York. The show begins on September 4th.

Precious gems

HBO has a new comedy to come on a family of televangelists totally inept, confused and corrupt. With Danny McBride among the stars, you can imagine how that goes. The show starts on August 18th.

Disguised spies

Disguised spies Will Smith talks about an ultra-smooth spy who turns into a pigeon. I want to hate it, but the principle works really well with someone who plays cool and confident, as well as Smith in the lead role. He goes out at Christmas.

Terror: infamy

AMC Terror is a series of horror anthologies based (loosely) on historical events and is about to return for its second season. The new episodes focus on internment of Americans of Japanese descent in the United States during the Second World War and use this atrocity to tell another horror story. The series returns on August 12th.

Frankenstein's monster, Frankenstein

Is it real? Does it matter? It is a good trailer.
