Nowadays, almost all high-end phones offer a kind of night mode: Google, Night Sight, LG, and Samsung, Bright Night. Unfortunately, the Samsung version has some strange restrictions that activate Bright Night only in very low light conditions, instead of allowing you to activate it at any time. It's really annoying and it's something I called in my article on the Galaxy S10. But this is no longer the case.
Fortunately, it seems that Samsung is listening, because according to SamMobile, a new update of the Galaxy S10 is being deployed. It will allow you to use Samsung's Bright Night mode by simply selecting the feature in the phone's camera. At the moment, the update seems to be available only in Switzerland, but since the hotfix also includes the latest monthly security patch for Android, we expect the update to start appearing on phones soon. Other regions.
Previously, to activate the Night Light mode, the phone should be placed in an environment with less than 1 lux of light or less, which is about the amount of light emitted by a single candle at a distance of one meter. It is only then that the S10's camera application automatically triggers Bright Night mode, allowing you to leave it on or off.
In the new update, Bright Night will be split into a dedicated mode with its own tab so you can enable the feature as you please. This is an interesting upgrade to the S10's photography, as it gives users a lot of control and flexibility when it comes to taking pictures in dimly lit environments.
That said, it seems that the mode itself remains largely unchanged, which can be a little disappointing for some because, as I discovered, Samsung's Bright Night mode is not as powerful as that of Google Night Sight. But if Samsung can upgrade Bright Night mode to full-time status, we hope more improvements will be made to the camera.
