New Vegas Mod The Frontier is finally out

A mod for years launched last Friday, and it was such a big launch that it took Nexus Mods with it. Fallout: The Frontier is essentially a new game, built on Fallout: New Vegas.

The border has been searched since several years, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a bit more ambitious than some new quests and characters; The border is located in Portland, Oregon, and is a new map that’s roughly the same size as New VegasMojave and almost as tall as Fallout 3.

Depending on the mod Nexus Mods Page, The border has three major questlines – aligned with the New California Republic, Northern Legion or Crusaders of Steel – and over 60 side quests, as well as new items and additions to your Courier arsenal. There are also “tens of thousands” of new lines of dialogue voiced. Oh, and you can drive tanks, vertibirds, and cars.

For the record, it looks like there has been a bit of a resurgence of Fallout: New Vegas in the game in general. Seriously, the number of people who independently of each other told me they relocated New Vegas during that last vacation break was a bit astounding.

All this to say that it makes sense that between the anticipation of The borderlaunch and rekindled love for New Vegas, the actual launch of the mod generated quite a bit of traffic. When it went live last Friday, downloaders hammered the waiters from the popular mod hosting site Nexus Mods. The next day the Border team thanked everyone who helped “crash Nexus” and anyone who offers support and thanks within the first 24 hours of going live.

Fortunately, things are back to normal and the mod is fully downloadable right now at Nexus mods. There is also a Steam page in preparation, for those who are a little afraid of the modding process for Fallout: New Vegas, although a date has not yet been set. There are also helpful guides for potential newbie modders. The border, so don’t be too afraid of the process. It still involves a bit of work, but compared to the old days of modding, it’s a much smoother process.
