Disney + WandaVision series has (mostly) been a chipper television event for the scarlet witch and her synthezoid husband. They’ve experienced all of the forced bliss that the ’50s,’ 60s, and ’70s sitcoms were built upon, but a clip from this Friday’s upcoming episode seems to explore what’s behind the TV veneer …or rather, what is it around he.

If you remember at the end of last week’s episode, Teyonah Parris’ Geraldine was literally thrown out of the town of Westview – and the mysterious bubble that surrounds it – apparently for raising Wanda’s brother and his death at the hands of Ultron Age of Ultron. This clip, which appears to be together before at this event, apparently confirms a lot of things we were already confident about, but still handles a surprise or two.

“Geraldine” – best known in the real life of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the adult Monica Rambeau daughter of Captain Marvelis Maria Rambeau and, in the comics, a superhero herself–and SHIELD agent Jimmy Choo (Randall Park) clearly encounter the Westview bubble for the first time here, before Monica was willingly or unintentionally sucked into the twisted reality TV inside. What if last week’s collar index wasn’t enough, it is worth pointing out that Monica is indeed wearing a SWORD logo t-shirt, which presumably means she is part of the Sensitive World Observation and Intervention Department.

SWORD, the extraterrestrial sister agency to SHIELD in the comics, first got his big tease in the MCU at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home, with the film apparently alluding to his arrival in the form of the new organization led by Nick Fury and a legion of friendly Skrulls via a spaceship in his post-credits scene. (Actually, I suspect Jimmy has also moved to SWORD, if only for the sake of simplicity.) Nothing shocking there, at least so far.

However, there are a few cool things about the clip. First, there is the triumphant return of Dr. Darcy Lewis, who went from being an intern at Jane Foster to Thor to help SWORD in the WestView situation. And if you look at this wall with SWORD’s files on the townspeople, they all have driver’s license cards attached … except for Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) and Dottie (Emma Caufield), the latter does not seem to have a file at all. Hmm. In addition, these licenses are all from New Jersey; first Vision and the Scarlet Witch comic series Beginning in 1982, the couple moved to suburb of Leonia, New Jersey, after getting married and retiring from the Avengers.

Phew! That’s a lot of layers. Not bad for a 53-second clip-slash-trailer! We’ll probably see it and a lot more tomorrow, when WandaVision returns for the episode. 4.
