When beta testing took place this summer for New world, the new massively multiplayer online game from Amazon Games, a few testers with EVGA-branded graphics cards saw them stop working. It looks like the issue has spread to live play, and it’s not just a card brand anymore.
Some New world players who had their Nvidia graphics cards Stop Running took to social media to expose the issue, as PCGamesN reported this week. Some people said the cards were dead as soon as they could connect, while others reported problems after a few hours of playing. The source of the problem would be faults among Nvidia cards made by EVGA and Gigabyte, rather than a flaw in the game itself.
Among the cards with problems is the RTX 3090, RTX 3080Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 3060 Ti and GPUs for RTX 3000 laptops. Affected people say they have already started the process of returning cards to manufacturers.
EVGA told PC World on September 1 that New World revealed a solder defect in some of the company’s cards and that replacement cards have been sent to affected players.
EVGA and Gigabyte did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.
New World is a new Massively Multiplayer RPG from Amazon Games that launched on Tuesday. So far this has been a big hit for Amazon’s game development studio with more than 700,000 simultaneous players. It is only available for PC.
