Does anyone else already have flashbacks to the final months of 2020? You will be now. Amazon has just announced that its great fantasy MMORPG New World is further delaying the launch. Just one little longer this time, until the end of September. Now that the closed beta is over, they say they need more time to incorporate player feedback. Instead of its previously scheduled launch date of August 31, the new official departure date is September 28. For real this time.

“We know that this is not the first time that we have changed our launch date for the sake of quality, and that it can be disappointing to wait a little longer,” the New World team said in their announcement. In case you’ve lost track, Amazon’s MMO was originally scheduled to launch in August of last year before being postponed until this spring and then postponed to August.

New World’s closed beta is now over, and Amazon says more than a million players have joined in the two weeks. It also affected 200,000 simultaneous players. As always with betas, there were some things Amazon felt needed to be fixed ahead of launch:

“Along the way, you’ve also given us a ton of feedback that we’ll use to make New World even better. We want the New World launch to be a smooth and fun experience for all players, and that means making some improvements. based on what you encountered during Closed Beta. So we’ll take a few extra weeks to fix bugs, improve stability, and polish the game. ”

We’ve been keeping an eye on New World here, trying to determine if Amazon’s next game will actually take off. Ed gave it a try and said the build was excellent actually. Meanwhile, Ollie is already gearing you up with some handy tips on how New World attributes work and how to level up your camp.

New World’s new global launch date is now Tuesday, September 28. You can find it on Steam when it finally launches.

Before we go, let’s all pay homage to the best Colm games to come to the August list. He was feeling optimistic and changed the list from ten usual entries to twelve. Between that Icarus delay, a Skatebird delay, and now, it seems even a list of ten is a bit too much.
