ALBANY, NY (AP) – New York is seeing a slight increase in COVID-19 cases as vaccination rates slowly rise. That’s according to the latest state data, released on Saturday.

About 525 people every day have tested positive for COVID-19 in New York City for seven days through Friday.

This represents an increase of 369 people – an increase of 42% – for the previous week.

The state’s health ministry says a higher percentage of cases are linked to more contagious variants and is urging more people to get vaccinated.
