New York City’s COVID-19 Positivity Rate Rises

New York’s COVID-19 positivity rate remains below 1%, although it is increasing slightly, according to new figures released on Saturday.

The positivity rate, measured over a seven-day average, was 0.79% on Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. A week earlier, the rate stood at 0.51%.

In New York City, the positivity rate was 0.85% on a seven-day average on Friday, with only Staten Island exceeding 1% to 1.41%.

Of the 80,311 coronavirus test results that came back statewide on Friday, 661 or 0.82% were positive, Cuomo said.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus on Friday was 342 and a Brooklyn resident has died along with a Bronx resident and a Manhattan resident.

Cuomo said 21,524,919 doses of COVID-19 have been administered in the state and that 70.3% of adult New Yorkers have received at least one dose and 65% have completed the series.
