A 58-year-old driver was trapped for more than 10 hours after a plow covered his car with nearly 4 feet of snow in upstate New York early Thursday, authorities said.
The man, Kevin Kresen, suffered from hypothermia and frostbite because his car was without heat due to a broken serpentine belt, according to a statement from the New York State Police.
At first, authorities were unable to locate Kresen, who deviated from the 17C national road in the town of Olowo, police said.

But a state soldier eventually managed to spot Kresen’s vehicle after digging in the snow to try and locate a mailbox to verify the address.
Kresen was taken to Lourdes hospital for treatment.

Owego was hit with more than three feet of snow Wednesday night through Thursday due to winter storm Gail.
