The mayor would be the 23rd Democrat to vie for the Democratic nomination for the presidency, following Montana's governor, Steve Bullock, who announced his own bid on Tuesday.
De Blasio intends to visit two states with advance voting. He will visit Iowa Friday and South Carolina on Saturday, a spokesman told Fox News.
